Karatu serves as a gateway to some of Tanzania’s most renowned safari
destinations. Dusty but absolutely delightful, the main street is wide and always vibrant with
people in brightly coloured clothes chatting, laughing and going about their daily
activities.
After a hearty breakfast, our adventure continues from Karatu as we journey towards the legendary Serengeti National Park. Our route takes us through the picturesque highlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering breathtaking views and a taste of Tanzania’s stunning landscapes.
As we leave the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa. The Serengeti’s endless plains stretch out before us, rolling into the horizon as far as the eye can see. Our destination is the central park area, known as the Seronera area, which boasts one of the richest wildlife habitats in the Serengeti. The Seronera River is a lifeline here, attracting diverse wildlife representative of most Serengeti species.
We arrive just in time for a delicious lunch, recharging our energy before we set off on an exhilarating afternoon game drive. As we explore the Serengeti, keep your eyes peeled for the incredible wildlife that roams these iconic plains.
As the sun sets, we return to the Seronera area for a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay, ready to immerse ourselves in more Serengeti magic tomorrow. Enjoy the comfort of your accommodation, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Imagine being one of the lucky few to soar above the Serengeti Plains in a hot air balloon! This unforgettable experience, available at a supplementary cost and with pre-arrangement, lets you float silently over the awakening bush. Spot wildlife from above and marvel at the breathtaking African scenery as you drift across rivers and over charming villages.
After a delightful breakfast, we embark on a full day game-viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River. This area is a hotspot for spotting lions, Thomson gazelles, topis, ostriches, and cheetahs. Following our morning adventure, we visit the Visitor Centre near the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites. This well-designed centre offers fascinating wildlife displays, a gift shop with information leaflets and maps, a store for cold drinks and snacks, and a picnic area with an informative trail winding around a nearby kopje. We’ll enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch under the shade of giant acacia trees, soaking in the serene environment.
In the afternoon, we follow the Kopjes Circuit, which winds around the Maasai Kopjes in an anti-clockwise direction. These weathered granite outcrops are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and pools of water that attract wildlife, especially during the dry seasons. The kopjes are excellent spots for spotting lions and large cobras, who often lie in wait for animals coming to drink.
As the day draws to a close, we return to the Seronera area for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay. Enjoy the comfort of your accommodation, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the Serengeti wilderness.

After breakfast at your accommodation, we set off for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, we’ll make a fascinating stop at Olduvai Gorge, a site rich with history dating back to the dawn of humanity. It was here that the renowned anthropologists Drs. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man,’ both crucial links in the chain of human evolution.
We arrive at our lodge just in time for a delightful lunch. Afterwards, we’ll descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. This unique ecosystem, sustained by a year-round water supply and abundant vegetation, supports a vast array of wildlife. Expect to see herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. The crater is also renowned for its dense predator population, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, which often requires a keen eye to spot.
Our adventure continues with a visit to Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater. This lake is one of the crater’s main attractions, usually teeming with flamingos, hippos, and other water birds.
As evening falls, we’ll return to your accommodation in Karatu for a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay, surrounded by the natural beauty of Ngorongoro. Enjoy the tranquillity of your accommodation as you reflect on the day’s incredible experiences.
